Capabilities

Six disciplines, one pipeline.

Over twenty years in the IT field, with expertise in database administration and advanced ETL programming. Formulating the strategy, determining the tools, and leading the team that delivers it inside the time and the budget.

Data Warehouse Operations

Hands-on operational support for an enterprise data warehouse — monitoring 175+ production ETL jobs, keeping SQL Server Agent schedules, alerts and system health green, and carrying the on-call pager for incident response.

  • MS SQL Server 2019
  • SQL Server Agent
  • SSIS
  • Visual Studio 2022
  • Power BI

ETL Design & Development

End-to-end ingestion pipelines built from the parser up: extraction, transform and load processes, parsing algorithms that turn raw log files into loadable data, and the scheduling around them. Twenty years of it, across federal and Fortune 500 programs.

  • SSIS
  • SAS
  • Oracle SQL
  • Teradata
  • UNIX shell (Korn, Bash, C Shell)
  • Autosys

Database Administration

Backups and restores, replication monitoring, disaster recovery, performance tuning, logins, permissions and roles — plus the schema work underneath: tables, indexes, sequences, triggers and stored procedures with the right permissions attached.

  • MS SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • Sybase
  • DB2
  • MariaDB
  • Postgres

Cyber Fraud & Insider Threat Analytics

Ten years on the IRS User Behavior Insider Threat program, working alongside fraud analysts to detect fraudulent electronic transactions — building the end-to-end transaction visibility, the log ingestion behind it, and the monthly reporting that assessed data quality.

  • SAS
  • UNIX shell scripting
  • MariaDB
  • R
  • Advanced data extraction

Cloud & Platform Migration

Moving live federal data off on-prem and onto cloud infrastructure — MariaDB to Postgres, and IRS on-premises network data into the AWS Treasury Cloud.

  • AWS Treasury Cloud
  • MariaDB
  • Postgres
  • Data migration

Automation & Reporting

Taking a process that costs a hundred hours and making it cost ten. Automated reconciliation, self-delivering reports, dynamic scripts that run on any platform, and parameter-driven jobs that stop hard-coded paths from becoming next year's maintenance bill.

  • Python
  • PowerShell
  • SAS
  • Transact-SQL
  • VBA
  • MS Access

Experience

Thirty-one years, thirteen posts.

Federal civilian, law enforcement, housing finance, healthcare and telecom — the data has changed, the discipline has not.
